千喜鹤集团市场部经理韩毅忠介绍，随着奥运猪肉产品的供应启动，千喜鹤按照该标准生产的针对老百姓消费的产品也同时在沃尔玛等大型超市上架，其有机猪肉价格达到60元一公斤。目前由于产量的原因，每天供应量只有6000公斤左右。

NEW YORK --China is facing a pork price hike that could turn into a serious food shortage and even a political crisis, reports the Chinese-language World Journal. The price of pork in China surged swiftly over the past several months. The price of pork in China has even surpassed the prices in the United States, making it unaffordable for the average Chinese. Several factors led to the shortage in pork: the price increase of feed deters farmers from raising pigs; with the country's rapid urbanization, farmers often prefer to sell or rent their land for real estate development. The nouveau rich in China may consume less pork, but pork is still a staple food for the vast majority. If this problem go unsolved, no other country can help feed China's 1.3 billion people, the World Journal reports.
